Summer Film Review.

THE FIGHTER

This is one unique American film, it has the most British vibe Iv’e seen from an American film. Director David O’Russell has cleverly combined an American cast with the camera work and techniques of a British drama such as THIS IS ENGLAND. We see very contemporary shots and actor Christain Bale (Dicky Eklund) as a character that has no resembelence to his roles in the Batman films, he plays an ex champion boxer who goes completely off the rails with drugs, fighting and alcohol. His only hope is his younger brother played by Mark Wahlberg ( Mickey Ward) whos everyone hopes will be the next big boxing star. Amy Adams plays a young naive girl similar to the part she plays in Catch Me if You Can, i think her fair hair and petite frame make her very suited to these venerable emotional roles. There is a fight scene in this film that is filmed so effectively it can silence a room in seconds. I strongly recomend this film to anyone who loves contemporary British Films despite it being American.

“Led by a trio of captivating performances from Mark Wahlberg, Christian Bale, and Amy Adams, The Fighter is a solidly entertaining, albeit predictable, entry in the boxing drama genre.”
